Spiritual toxicity

Posted on August 25th, 2014

Over the past week, I've been listening to sermon podcasts or reading from various religious websites. The product of this was some extreme spiritual sickness, as the theology presented by the latter was just correct enough to sound true and let the poison in. Sort of what St. Francis De Sales was talking about when he referenced honey made by bees that had fed on aconite: the honey was sweeter than usual, but the added sweetness was due to the toxins mixed in it.

This ultimately resulted in a breakdown. Both Saturday and Sunday were spent occupying myself with other things -- various games, random tasks and so on -- to effectively recharge and detox. Originally, I wasn't sure if I'd be ready to resume my projects on Monday or at any point next week.

Fortunately, recognizing the problem and acting on it resolved things. Next week should go roughly as normal, and I'll be more wary of this trick in the future.

In an unusually stirring animation, we see the last moments of the Heavy.
