Around noon UPS, USPS and FedEx delivered stuff mom had purchased online. They arrived in a staggered manner: just as we were disposing of the packaging from one delivery, another truck pulled up. Among the delivered items was a new pair of slippers for me, though none of my orders arrived today. This took a considerable amount of time to deal with (partly because we were having lunch when the deliveries began); it was after 2:00 PM by the time we were done.
Shortly after that I received notice that ThinkGeek had processed my return, so I bought the little gadget, using up all of the money I had. So unless I get cash from relatives this Christmas, I'm flat broke 'till New Year's.
During the afternoon I gave up tying to actually do anything today and joined mom to watch a few more episodes of Pooh. Among other MST3000 style remarks I made about the show, I noticed that Eeyore was the only member of the cast that wasn't anthropomorphic. This might explain his depression: everybody else had thumbs!
The Retro Mini X started having trouble playing games (graphics corruption, sudden resets etc) this afternoon. I blamed it on dusty carts (which is the NES' usual downfall and the typical cause of such problems for that system), so I cleaned the carts and the Retro Mini X's contacts. While they were rather dirty, this didn't solve the problem. After some thought, I plugged in the Retro Mini X and the problems vanished. It turns out that it was simply out of juice: four AA batteries only give the unit 8 hours of gameplay life and I've easily clocked over 10 hours so far this week.
Today's link of the day is a hilarious little cat fight.
