This morning was spent trying out various ideas of how to do text-based graphics in a manner that looked good. The remainder of the day was spent building a toolkit to isolate the graphics and input system into a single unit.

The method of handling text-based graphics that worked the best was a style that is very similar to a design I was working on back in 2007. Since I have that code backed up, it was pretty trivial to retrieve it and modify it. It just goes to show that you should never throw anything away -- you never know when you might need it.

Additionally, I won't have to design a fancy program to make the graphics. Because of yet more old code I've written in the past, I can do the art in MS Paint and then just convert it.

Tomorrow will feature work on the comic though, so things will slow down a bit for a while.

We grilled again today; though we didn't have chips or anything to pig out on. That little grill is sure getting mileage.

Today's link of the day is just plain weird. Happy, but weird.
