Today was largely spent working on Din and watching some ST:TNG. This morning however, was spent taking Little One to the vet for a check up. His kidney disease is progressing, and he's going to need combed out. There's also a lump on his thyroid, though bloodwork isn't showing anything to worry about yet. He'll go for the comb out next Thursday.

In the evening I decided to return to Neopets. In 2004 I was a regular of the game; things changed with the new management and it became Ruined FOREVER for me (hell, there's an entry for the game on that tropes' page!). My favorite parts of the game were unplayable. So I left for a while. In late 2005 I gave it a go at redemption, but it didn't last and I left, presumably for good.

Lately I've been thinking about some of the things that were fun BESIDES the parts that quit working, and so I decided to try it again, treating it as an entirely new game rather than the one I played before.

From the looks of things, the UI is vastly improved, the pages load much faster and many of the problems seem fixed. Also it seems to be under new management again (Nickelodeon instead of MTV). Interestingly, it seems to have dropped into stasis during the four year interim: the old game loading screens are still there for example. They aren't relevant anymore, so why keep them?

One of my old past times on the site was to collect people's garbage. I'm insanely good at the games that give you money, so I'm never hurting for cash. Instead, I'll buy some chocolate and then visit the trading booth. People often want to ditch the game's crap items and use the trading booth to do so. I offer the candy for the items; I'm losing money on the trade, but I'll get some interesting things if I keep at it. It's like winning eBay auctions without spending money.

Once I can create a store, I'll see about selling the better items.

Since it's been four years, I don't remember my username or password, so I'm starting from scratch. No matter; I've already amassed $10,000 in under 3 hours...

There's another thing to mention too. For a long time now I've been pressing to get things done. Lately I've been stopping to watch DVDs with mom instead of working on projects, and I've noticed that the quality of the code and art I'm doing has increased. I think I need to step away from the text editors and relax more, hence the return to Neopets. I'm still going to put a lot of effort into my work, it's just that I'll be stopping for a break now and then. All work and no play and all of that rot.
