It's over. For the past few months I've been losing faith in my host for various reasons. One of these was an inordinate amount of server downtime. I've been waiting for another unexplained downtime to try pinging this site from San Fran, Germany and Australia -- just to confirm it was not my ISP buggering up.

Today I wake up to find that:

*The last week of blog entries is AWOL
*The Control Panel is DOA
*The host's site is also DOA

The decision was made.

My host dropped the ball.
And that ball has been caught by a large, corporate hosting company.

The transfer is complete; I restored the last week's entries by cut and pasting them from LiveJournal's RSS feed cache and the rest of them from backups. Monthly backups pay off alright.

Learning the new host's control panel, uploading everything and waiting for the DNS to propagate took all morning and evening. I'm going to take a break for now, but later I'll post more about the situation.
